What happens during the first counselling session?
The first meeting will be by Skype, or Email.
During the first session, which is free and is about 30 minutes, a potential client can check and see, if they feel comfortable with a counselor, if they can express without restrictions any thoughts and feelings, if they feel respected by the counselor, if they feel understood by the counselor, if the counselor is giving them his attention. If the client is not happy during the first session, then there is no obligation for them to go for further sessions.
The aim of the first counselling session, is to see if the therapist and the client can decide to have a therapeutic counselling relationship. It is informal, and there are not contracts or papers for the client to fill.
The first thing the counselor will do, is to listen to the client’s story, and let the client to tell their story, the way they want to tell it. That first meeting is entirely conversational. There are no forms or papers. The therapist wants to find out, if his therapeutic approach, will be suitable for the client.
The counselling Assessment is before starting any further counselling sessions. It is done during the first contact or session. It helps the client and the therapist to figure out, if they are suitable for each other, and if the therapy will be suitable for the client.
During the first counselling Assessment, we will discuss about the focus of our working together, the precise issue the client wants to work on, and if the client has had counselling before. We will discuss confidentiality about the personal details of the client and in what circumstances their details can be disclosed and to whom. Also, boundaries during therapy, storage of the personal details of the client, fees, appointments, cancellation of therapy, what the client likes to achieve by the counselling sessions, work and family in the life of the client, health issues, and any other questions the client may have. The client and the therapist can discuss together, what are their expectations from each other.

You can ask any questions related to the therapy. I will let you decide if you want to have the counselling or not, it is entirely your choice.
The first session will be conversational for about 30 minutes. After the first session, you can choose to continue or not, with the further counselling, and there is no obligation.
3. Your first session is confirmed.
During the first session, there will be a conversation and there will be a counselling Assessment during which, we will discuss, what you want to get from counselling, and if we can agree to work together.
4. Sessions
Sessions can be by Skype, Email, or just Text. It is entirely up to you which way of consultation you would like to have.
The sessions will be weekly and each session is approximately 50 minutes. You can book a certain number of sessions, or we can decide until you find a positive resolution to the issues you are facing.
5. Fees
The fee for each online session, is $15 per session. The first 30 minutes session is free!
